Our Woolly Pots
From the raw beauty of Norway’s landscapes comes Woolly, a biodegradable plant pot crafted from the wild sheeps wool and seaweed. Woolly is in constant change, like nature itself: it carries life, supports growth and returns seamlessly to the earth.
Let nature take root.
Each pot embodies the irregular and tactile character of its origins, revealing the raw beauty of natural fibers and processes. The material offers a living presence that shifts subtly over time.
Scientifically documented to enhance plant growth, root and soil health, it eliminates the plastic waste and the work with depotting the plant as Woolly is planted directly in the ground in a bigger pot.
Every year millions of plastic pots are discarded, leaving waste streams and fossil traces. Woolly replaces them with locally sourced biomaterials and builds new circular value chains, using wool that would otherwisebe discarded. Born in Norway, Woolly will be scaled using local wool in other regions over time.
Woolly is a product from and by nature, created to let nature take root.

Bioregion Institute, Lerøy Seafood and Ocean Forest : A partnership to replace plastic pots with a Norwegian solution that reduces waste, enriches ecosystems, and creates new circular value chains.
Woolly
On the outer islands of Bulandet, wild sheep graze in a rugged coastal landscape shaped by wind, waves and generations of fishing. Their coarse wool, long considered too low in quality for textiles, has often gone to waste. At the same time, beneath the surface of Norway’s fjords, kelp forests are under pressure. Lerøy, through Ocean Forest, has pioneered regenerative ocean farming, cultivating kelp that restores ecosystems instead of depleting them.
Woolly brings together two undervalued resources: Norwegian wool and cultivated kelp. Developed by Bioregion Institute with Lerøy and scaled with Pando, the pot keeps roots moist, then breaks down in soil – nourishing instead of polluting. The ambition is clear: replace plastic pots with a Norwegian solution that reduces waste and builds new circular value chains.
